Make Your own Baby Shower Party Favors and Ideas For Wedding Favors Hello! Growing up in a large italian family we have always made our own our party favors. These favors are beautiful and very unique. We make them for Weddings, Baptisms, Communions, and Baby Showers. I would like to share with you how we make these beautiful favors so that you can do them yourself if you wish and save some money! In tradition of the White Jordan Almonds that are used in the favors, these almonds represent Health, Wealth and Happiness. If you like you can also add two more which represent Fertility and Success. The standard tradition is to use three. These come in a variety of colors that you can use, we have always used white. The almonds can be wrapped in tulle and attached to the gift/favor of your choice with ribbon or you can put the almonds in the actual gift/favor (a small basket or slipper) and then wrap the entire favor in tulle. Both ways are very striking and beautiful. The key is to use a unique gift/favor to either fill or attach your almonds to and use good quality tulle! Lets talk about the actual tulle/almond part first. Depending on what size of gift/favor you are using will depend on the size of the tulle. Tulle can be purchased in precut round circles ranging from 8" to 15". There are a variety of types, colors and textures you can buy. We have always used plain white. The pre-cut circles are the easiest to use and the most economical so that you dont waste unecessary tulle. How to wrap the Almonds and Tulle: Using your pre-cut tulle circle put your almonds in the center and gather the tulle so that the almonds are in a little pocket then tie the ribbon tightly. Once its tied, pull and fluff the tulle from the top to make if look even and pretty. After it is wrapped and tied, you can then attach (tie it) it to a gift with ribbon. You can also add little silk flowers if you choose. It is best to glue or wrap the flowers to the ribbon after it is tied. We do not recommend gluing the wrapped tulle/almonds to the actual favor you are giving as it may ruin the gift/favor. Please see our samples on our Wedding Favors page. How to wrap the entire favor: Place the almonds in the gift/favor you are giving. This could be a slipper, basket, box ect. Then again using a large pre-cut tulle circle you can wrap the entire gift/favor with the tulle. (Please see our sample Noah Ark trinket box) done in this manner. We used a 15" tulle circle, and 3 almonds. The almonds were put in the trinket box. We then wrapped the entire gift/favor in tulle and used printed ribbon with the name and date of the occasion and tied it to the gift/favor. We wrapped a small silk flower around it to give it some additional color. This gift/favor was used for a baby shower. Please be sure if you are wrapping the entire gift/favor that the tulle is big enough. If not it will gather wrong and be too short and look awful. You need to have a lot of fluff on the top, sort of like a gift basket is wrapped. Wrapping a Boxed Favor: Here is another method for a unique party favor you may like. Lets say you choose a frame for your gift. You can keep the frame in its box and wrap it ike you would a present. Only use pretty white, gold or silver wrapping paper. Then for the bow you would use the tulle/almond combination. So in the same method as before you would wrap your almonds up in the tulle and tie it with your printed ribbon. Add some flowers or whatever enhancements you choose and tie them on to the tulle/almonds. This method makes a beautiful presentation with the gift all wrapped up and the tulle/almonds as the bow!
